Social media is one of the most powerful tools a business can use today. More than half of the world is using social media, and over 400 million new users joined between January 2021 to 2022.
So, you don’t want to take advantage of this opportunity.
The best thing about social media marketing is that you get direct inbounds. Anyone can become a lead and then a paying customer. However, running a social media campaign involves coming up with new content ideas. Because your audience demands more — you must deliver consistent quality content.
After all, at the end of the day, you want engagements. You want people to respond to your posts. That’s how you know you’re doing it right.
So how do you come up with engaging post ideas for social media? Check the list below for inspiration!
Social media engagement is any activity that happens on social media. For instance, this could be your audience liking or following your brand on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, or other social media platforms.
It could also be people sharing one of your posts or videos with their friends or leaving a comment on your content.
In short, social media engagement is anything that gets people talking about and interacting with your brand online.
Engagement is important because it’s a good indication of how well our content is performing. If people are engaging with our content, it means they’re interested in it and find it valuable.
It also helps us to build relationships with our audience. The more engaged someone is with our content, the more likely they will remember us and pay attention to what we do in the future.
The more people see your social media posts, the more likely you are to sell your products, get clicks on your affiliate offers, and make more money.
You should pay attention to a few engagement metrics, such as the number of likes, comments, and shares your content receives. For you to visualize these metrics depends on each social media platform.
On YouTube, you can head over to your channel analytics. See how well your videos are performing. While on Facebook, you can use the insights feature to see how many people have engaged with your posts. And on Twitter, you can check out your tweet activity to get an overview of your engagement.
Other ways to measure social media engagement include looking at the number of new followers you gain. As well as how much traffic you’re getting from social media to your website.
You can also look at how often people talk about your brand on social media (brand mentions).
Another way to measure social media engagement is to track how many people click on links in your posts or watch your videos all the way through.
Now that you know a bit about social media and its importance, let’s look at ways to increase your engagement.
Running a popular Facebook fan page, YouTube channel, or other social media platform requires consistency. Experts recommend posting at least two to three times a week on Facebook. The same thing with publishing videos on YouTube.
While with TikTok, you should post four to eight a day. This helps your account grow faster and have more people engage with your content.
For instance, Pewdiepie is one of the most famous YouTubers. His channel has over 111 million subscribers.
Pewdiepie made one video daily for a long time to grow his subscription base. Only nowadays, he has slowed down a bit. But still, he publishes about two videos a week.
So, you must be consistent with your posting to see your social media accounts grow and your content get massive engagement.
You may not have thought about this, but your profile on social media is a powerful tool to increase engagement.
For instance, if you run a Facebook fan page for your business, you can also post about it on your personal profile. And in the process, you’ll get more likes for your fan page.
You can also post content from your fan page on your profile to get more engagement.
Make sure you do this sparingly, as you don’t want to spam your personal profile with too much business-related content.
A good rule of thumb is to post about your business on your profile once for every ten posts you make that are personal in nature.
Most social media platforms prefer active users. For this reason, you should engage with other people’s content before they engage with yours.
When you engage with others, it signals to the algorithm that your account is active. As a result, your content is more likely to be seen by other users.
So, make sure you’re regularly liking, commenting, and sharing other people’s content.
This doesn’t mean that you should engage with just anyone, though. Make sure you’re engaging with people in your niche or industry.
For instance, if you have a pet store, make sure you like and comment on posts made by other pet stores, veterinarians, animal shelters, etc.
This social media engagement strategy works extremely well on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
When you comment on someone’s post, you can comment as your business or yourself.
The idea is to find several influencers and people with similar products in your niche. You want to go to their pages and leave comments as your business. As a result, people will see your comment, click on your profile, and go to your business page.
This is a great way to get targeted traffic and engagement from people interested in your offer.
You can use this social media engagement technique on any platform, but it works exceptionally well on Twitter. Make sure your social media profile is easy to understand and has all the information people want to know about your brand.
You want to find popular social media profiles relevant to your brand. Afterward, you want to follow their followers.
The idea is to find people talking about topics related to your niche. You want to follow these people and like/retweet some of their tweets.
After a while, these people will be notified that you’re following them and will check out your profile. If they like what they see, they’ll follow you back.
This is a great way to get targeted followers interested in what you have to say.
When you’re trying to increase engagement on social media, it’s crucial that you talk to people and not at them.
What I mean by this is that you want to avoid sounding like a salesperson. You want to sound like a friend who genuinely wants to help.
People are tired of being sold to. No one wants to be bombarded with sales pitches all day long.
What they do want is helpful information that’s relevant to their interests. They want to know that you understand them and their needs.
So, when creating content, ensure it’s helpful and informative. And avoid sounding like you’re trying to sell something.
One of my favorite ninja techniques because it helps with exposure. Posting something on social media has a short life span because social media algorithms are designed to show people the most recent content.
So, if you want people to see your older content, you need to give it a bump. And the best way to do that is by commenting on your post.
When you comment on your post, it bumps the post back up to the top of people’s timelines. As a result, more people will see it.
Facebook groups are a great way to increase your reach and engagement because you can post your content there and get exposure to a new audience. But before you do it, make sure you post on relevant groups and read their restrictions.
For instance, if you sell protein shakes, you want to post in strength training and powerlifting groups.
Don’t spam these groups with your content, though. Make sure you’re adding value and engaging with other group members before you start posting your stuff.
If you want to increase engagement on social media, start a series.
The reason this works so well is that people love stories. And when you start a series, people will want to know what happens next. They’ll be eager to see your next post.
You can start a behind-the-scenes or an “industry secrets” series.
For instance, if you own a clothing store, you can start a behind-the-scenes series where you show people how you make your clothes, etc.
Or, if you’re a coach, you could start an “industry secrets” series where you share insider tips and tricks.
This is a great way to increase engagement on social media, especially if you’re starting. An “ask me event” is where you open up the floor and allow people to ask you questions.
You can do this by hosting a Twitter chat or a Facebook Live Q&A session.
This is a great way to engage with your audience and build relationships. It also helps you get feedback so you can create better content in the future.
This is an easy way to get more engagement on social media.
When you find content that’s relevant to your audience, share it! Repost, retweet, and share it on your social media channels.
Make sure you give credit to the original author, though. The last thing you want to do is steal someone’s content.
When you share other people’s content, they’ll be more likely to return the favor. And that means more exposure for you.
Those are just a few social media engagement ideas to get you started. Before I finish this post, I want to warn you not to fall into the trap of new people to social media marketing. What is this trap? Giving up!
To build a social media profile for your brand with hundreds or thousands of people engaging and sharing your content with friends and colleagues, you must remember to be consistent and add value.
If you can do that, your engagement will grow month after month. And pretty soon, you’ll have an engaged audience that loves your content.
The key is to keep at it and don’t give up!
